SoundScapes Scandinavia - DHN Records (DHN 003)

Deep House Network Records presents: Sound Scapes Scandinavia

20 minutes of stunning house music

‘Got 2 Keep On Dancin’ EP’

  • “It is very, very good overall but I love A2 & B1 the best ... A2 is very deep & delicious“ - Greg Stickmen / Slush Recordings
  • "I really like side A and the first track on side A. I will give it high rotation on my radio show but overall the ep is banging. Nick." - Nick Holder, DNH Records
  • "We really like DHN 003 - very strong tracks, your best release yet" - Shane Johnson, Fish Go Deep.
  • “Cool ep, Playmaker is my favourite cut, cool, deep, melodic” - John Marsh, The Beloved

A1: Playmaker – 4th Triangle
More well known for his outings as a progressive dj, Playmaker gives us a deliciously deep and funky uplifting number. The first of three tasty breakdowns comes in incorporating some wonderfully subtle yet edgy breakbeat, before returning to a gentle gallop of swirling keys and sharp beats, before returning to a gentle gallop of swirling keys and sharp beats, just right for that outdoor sunset vibe, when that beachside party is just kicking off. It doesn't let up for long though, building back in stages, intricately adding and layer upon layer of new beats, sweet melodies and an undeniable summer funk.

A2: Physics – Guitar Superstar
The deep, warm organs, squelchy keyboards and faint percussion that kick off this cut from the ever-consistent Physics crew, could have you thinking it was a typical deep house outing at first. The 70's-style rhythm guitar however gives us our first clue as what's in store. As we enjoy "Superstar"'s delicate mutation from deep to disco without ever forcing too much of either. Steel drums ala classic Imperial Dub then politely push their way into the mix to keep shoulders swaying for the break, before the introduction of some straight-up funky slap bass. The vocal reminds us we "got to keep on dancin'" - don't worry guys, we're already there.

B1. Dalminjo – Amateur Agents
A loud, crashing rimshot at the conclusion of each bar jolts the dancefloor into action, and the throbbing, prolonged bass compliments it perfectly. The track builds and builds, and those welcome heavy snares are coming thick and fast now. Swirling, spacey keys once again make an appearance, this time over a jazzy, yet assertive xylophone solo, that remain right up to the end of the breakdown. Soon after, distorted, techno-inspired bass cuts reminiscent of classic Daft Punk infuse the tune just when required. This is one agent that should never be undercover.

B2.Playmaker – 4th Triangle- Jori Hulkkonen’s Finland Ice Mix
Stop! Some one arrest this man for turning Playmaker’s hands in the air original into such a dark and dirty little house number! The darkest synths and dirty electro bass arrive when they're good and ready, along with the sharp-as-razors breaks that characterize his very best work. With the elements present and very correct, Hulkknonen plays juggles them in a way that will have the dance floor infused and enthralled.
