Area 3 is hosted by Cheebah and features Limerick’s Tom Frawley with Galway’s Rootical Sound System which is the first reggae sound system to visit the Treaty city. With St Patrick’s night being a Thursday FOOTWORK continues its weekly slot with a return visit from Cork 8-piece CARTOON. Cartoon is a music collaboration between producers and musicians Darragh O'Connor, Bob Jackson and the finest jazz and soul musicians in Cork. What distinguishes Cartoon from their fellow house music producers are their additional talents as live musicians. Instead of slotting into the usual producer/DJ category Cartoon have formed a versatile live band complete with a powerful horn section, two highly experienced jazz/funk guitarists, three singers as well as keys and drums from Darragh and Bob respectively. As a result live music fans who may never dare venture to a club see a 'big name DJ' are being awakened to the previously undiscovered pleasures of the fusion of jazz, soul and funk with house music through Cartoon's scintillating live performances. Explosive performances in front of 10,000 music fans at the Oxegen Music Festival this year has brought further attention to Cartoon’s live show and has won them slots to open for international acts such as Kerri Chandler and Amp Fiddler.
DJ’s sets on the night from Limerick’s Yos and Peter Byrne in the Warehouse and an alternative night in the Upstairs room.
